That is so funny - I'm pretty sure I have the EXACT same jacket, but in a longer knee-length. I inherited it from my grandmother, who bought it in the late 70's when she first started working at Sears.
She gave it to me in collage, and all my roommates called it the "pimp coat".
It's like you stepped out of a cool 70s lady detective show, ha! (In a good way.) Love it.
