The Bump

I bought this dress after I already knew I was expecting, so I got it a size larger in hopes I could pull it off through the earlier part of my pregnancy. Sure enough, I'm glad I got the size larger. There is still plenty of room for a little more growing and it will be fun to wear it with espadrilles and bare legs. Until then, I still have to winterize it. We're in the midst of a snowstorm right now. I think we swapped out Spring for an extended Winter.

Here's the bump - I will be twelve weeks tomorrow.

Plaid Dress

Went on a fun shopping trip the other night with the Junior High girls at my church. We were going to try to hit as many Goodwills as we could Friday night. We struck out big at the first one we went to and never moved on to the next store. Everybody found something, inclulding myself - this dress is one of my finds. 

 

I remember when this dress first debuted in the GO International line at Target. I wanted it so bad, but I was determined to wait for it to go on clearance. They sold out before they got low enough for my budget. I may have had to wait a lot longer than I would have liked, but finally 3+ years later, I have the dress! I found it at Goodwill for $5.50. It is like brand new, too, and in my size - no alterations needed!

I always get excited about finding Fall/Winter dresses. I have Spring and Summer dresses in abundance, but only a handful of cold weather dresses. This one works perfect with rugged belts, hats, belts, tights - that's right, perfect for the cold.

Lace for Winter

On a shopping trip with my sisters in Chicago, my sister and I both picked up this dress as Target. It is seasonless, flattering, feminine, and trendy - what more could you want in a dress?

I found this cute navy peacoat at the Gap Outlet for only $21! Haven't had a new coat in a while, so I'm glad I have something new to keep things interesting for the rest of this dreary winter.

Merry Christmas!

I wore this to our Christmas Eve service at church. I dressed the whole family in browns. It all started with the cutest little brown sweater I found for my son from Janie and Jack. My daughter has a red and brown velvet dress, my husband a brown sweater, and I had this brown dress. I know it doesn't sound very Christmas-y, but it looked more festive than it sounds and we all coordinated perfectly together.

 

And for the record, in person, these pumps matched my belt. The camera lies.

Making Spring Work for Fall

I recently did a closet cleansing. On top of giving away items I no longer wear or like, I also moved warm weather only items in another closet. I left any item that I thought I could make work for fall and winter, and this dress was one of them. I can wear a sweater over it and wear the dress as a skirt. Or wear t-shirts or shirts underneath it and wear it as a jumper. Add tights, belts, boots, and voila! - it's a dress for cold weather.

Potato Dress

I usually wear this as a tunic over leggings or jeans, but I decided that opaque tights are about the same as leggings. I'm so short, most tunic tops look like dresses on me anyway. So this is what I'm wearing today.

Finally Time for Tights

I've finally caught up to my scheduled posts. I wore this today for church.

 

I found this dress on the clearance rack at Target a few weeks ago and figured it would only work on a warm day, but this morning I noticed that all the colors of the dress were outlined in black, so why not add black tights?

 

Are these platforms not made for this dress?!

 And the green in my bracelet is the exact color of green in the dress.

I just happened to dress my children to match me - they are so cute!

 My son and I are "cool dudes" in our leather jackets.

Outfit Post: Happy Thanksgiving!

On weather.com it says "Severe Weather", but it just means that it is unusually warm here today being 64 degrees. I'm enjoying this little breather before things get too chilly and breaking out my cap sleeved cable knit sweater I found at Goodwill last week. I think it will look great with my burgundy cords, too.

Did any of you shop yesterday? I always like to shop on Black Friday, just for fun. I usually have all of my Christmas shopping done by then, so I just shop for myself. I mentioned to my husband that he should go with me and make it date and he decided we should go at midnight. We didn't get home till 8:30 AM, so I've missed an entire night of sleep. I had a catnap of about 30 minutes, but that's it. It will take me a week to catch up on my lost night!

I would call these jewel tones because of the deep purple and blue - but they probably aren't as bright as what would traditionally be called jewel tones. Whatever.
The hubby did a lot of work yesterday for me in preparation of the baby coming and now all we have left to do is tour the hospital, pack our bags, and maybe clean the carpets yet.

Outfit Post: Velvet crinkle dress

I love how perfect this dress works for maternity! And to think it was an impulse pre-pregnancy buy at Goodwill for only $5 - it has been worth a lot more than $5 to me these days. These textured tights are awesome. One of my friends bought them at J.Crew, but they didn't fit her right so she gave them to me. Yes, I'm lucky.

Don't know what I would do without boots in these snowy winters. I just bought the same pair in black on eBay and can't wait till they arrive!

Spring

I was hoping it would be warm enough for me to go barelegged in this outfit, but 57 degrees is still a bit too chilly for me, so I added the cream tights.
I wanted an excuse to wear this belt - I bought it while shopping with my little sister this past weekend. It was normally $55 at Ann Taylor, and I snagged it for $3.88. You can't beat that!
I think the belt exaggerates my hourglass figure a little too much for my taste, so I think I like this outfit better without the belt. The belt is fun if I were going to be with the girls, but today is work, errands, and a family Birthday party (I know, we have a big family and have family birthday parties a lot!) - so I'd rather look a bit more relaxed.
I thought adding the flower pin to my necklace was a nice touch. The aqua contrasts well against the orange, and makes me feel like I'm dressed for spring!
This day is especially important because my sister, Missi, had her baby today!!! I can't wait to meet my little nephew!!!
