Fall-ish Weather

It was actually somewhat cool yesterday when I wore this, not even reaching to 70 degrees. That means I can wear boots, right?

Comfort Clothes

My son described my top as having "zebra stripes" this morning (confusing the navy for black and seeing the stripes variegated like a zebra, since my curves don't allow the stripes to lay flat). I got a kick out of that.

My next OB appointment is today. I will be up to an appointment a week from here on out.

By the way, I may be gaining a lot of weight for this pregnancy, but have you noticed how tiny my ankles are? I am definitely puffy, and if you touch my leg, your fingerprint will last a little while, but I am shocked that I don't actually look swollen at all when I'm this far along. With my previous pregnancies I already had cankles by now, and my face was super puffy!

This Week

Yesterday was my OB appointment. I wore this:

It was a 4PM appointment, so I decided to take my kids out on a date on the way back. We stopped at Red Robin for dinner. Best of all, our healthy eating habits are starting to rub off on the kids. The sides they chose were apples and broccoli! No fries in sight. I was very pleased.

Today has been a special day for school. Our science project for the day was watching a monarch emerge from its chrysalis . . .

We took him outside to dry his wings and brought him a flower. He stayed there for a few hours before he flitted off to make his long journey to Mexico. We took notes on what we saw and then watched the Monarch Butterfly episode of Wild Kratts on Netflix. Yes, the children were extra excited about school today!

I have so many more projects for the house to finish, but creating this cute little nook in my room is finally done for now. This chair is my Papa's chair that I have extra special memories with. No one else in the family wanted it because it looked old fashioned to them. Old fashioned (plus I'm sentimental) works in my 1872 house, so I snatched it right up. Dressing it up with this cute little pillow that I made out of some remnant fabric was just what it needed. I spend most of my nights lately on this chair since laying down causes my heartburn to get too extreme. Having a cheery pillow and the wall dressed up with interesting things to look at will make my evenings on this chair that much better. Come October this will be nursing central. I'm glad it looks a bit more happy now.

Hope you all are enjoying your week!

Saturday

I was in the ER last night for my husband who I thought was having a diverticulitis flare up (he was recently diagnosed with diverticulitis). Apparently, what he had was merely viral. I was relieved. To have a subsequent flare up at so young an age when colon cancer runs in the family is risky business. Praising God that there was nothing. Now to recover from this flu bug that seems to keep coming back this week.

Wednesday Happenings

My husband and I had our first meeting with a financial advisor this afternoon. He is now "our" financial advisor. I feel so sophisticated saying that. Like, I must really be 31 years old now that I am talking to someone about a retirement plan, will and estate planning, and what I should do with my 401K now that I am no longer employed. It did feel good to get some questions answered and get some solid advice on it all. I feel like I'm finally getting that area of my life pretty organized and it feels good.

Love the colors in this top. My son fondly dubbed it my "earth" shirt because he says it looks like a picture of earth. I think he is right. My belly is perfectly globe shaped and the colors are very map/earth like. I may look like a walking globe, but I really want to wear this every day this week. I wonder if my husband will notice if I do.

Summer White

I found this picture from last week. I wore this on Tuesday for my drive up to MI. With Summer nearing a close, I'm glad I remembered to get some more wear out of these white jeans.

Happy Monday

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I enjoyed mine especially because I am down to part-time working this week. I only have two days where I have to go into the office. The other days I will work from home some. I'm looking forward to getting my house back in order and getting back to a regular routine.

Outfit Post: Going for comfort

Maternity jeans are so uncomfortable these days, and of course, regular jeans aren't really an option for me right now. I'm trying to wear leggings, and wishing it were warm enough outside to just wear dresses, since tights are ridiculously uncomfortable too!
Nevertheless, today I couldn't resist wearing this skirt since it has a very soft foldover waistband. My legs may be freezing today, but I feel so comfortable!

Outfit Post: The Fedora Hat

It's been a rough week pregnancy wise (morning sickness, dizziness, headaches, lack of sleep, etc.), but yesterday wasn't as bad and today is turning out even better, so I have a much better outlook on life and thought I would dress the part today. I was inspired by Lena from Quality Rivets to wear this fedora hat, and am liking the funky edge it gives my look.

And not only am I getting inspiration from these great maternity blogs (see sidebar link), I was also just given a whole bunch of maternity/maternityesque clothes from friends and family to add to my wardrobe. Nothing like a few fresh items to help give me some inspiration on what to wear!

Outfit Post: Navy and Brown

Thanks for directing me to some great maternity blogs! I've had a good time looking through them all!

I didn't have a chance to get more than two pictures today, and believe it or not, this one was the best one of the two (the other one ended up in shadows and you couldn't even see me).
I'm wearing my belly band as a camisole. All my other camisoles ride up my belly, so I just folded the belly band in half right over my chest for extra coverage. Works great!

Outfit Post: Chocolate Day

My son and I are going to make chocolate goodies today - which is a perfect excuse to dress in that color from head to toe, no?
This is my last week of my second trimester - I will think that these last three months went by quickly when it's all over with, but for now the days are dragging by. I'm definitely at that uncomfortable stage already and know it will only get worse from here on out!

Outfit Post: New Maternity Top

So I've finally bought a maternity top. This is the first actual maternity top that I've bought so far in this pregnancy. I spent more on it than I normally spend on a top, but it's hard to find really great deals on maternity, so I justified the higher cost.

Top - Motherhood (via Kohl's) - $18
Capris - Gap - $7
Boots - Aerosoles - $29
Earrings - Target - gifted
Hat - Old Navy - $.97

Outfit Post: First Maternity Top

While I still have several non-maternity tops that I can wear just fine, I couldn't wait to get this particular maternity top out. It was my favorite with my first pregnancy, and has even stood the wear and tear of being borrowed several times over!
It probably makes me look quite a bit larger than I am yet, but it is so comfortable, and I love how it drapes.
Just got back from story hour and playland with some friends, and now off to get my first ultrasound!

9 month starts today!

I know I never post. I'm stilling using the "I'm pregnant and tired" excuse. But being this is the start of my last and final (hopefully) month of pregnancy I figured I should do a post. I'm VERY excited that I'm finally on the home stretch.
Here is a silly pic to show off my new O.P.I "Lost without my GPS" nail color. My daughter is also sporting the same shade.
