36 Week Update

I have only three and a half weeks till my due date, but so much to do yet. I just finished my last writing assignment for my Legal Writing class (woohoo!), and now I have two and a half weeks to review for my finals exams in my other two classes (Criminal Procedure and Evidence). CJ still has play practice three nights a week for three hours each, plus all day Saturdays. In addition, he has two afternoon karate classes, and baseball games. We've been working hard on memorizing all of his lines, songs, and dances. On top of that, I have three art projects I'm doing for the Mary Poppins play that CJ is in (carving the parrot head for Mary Poppins umbrella handle, getting a shadow box painting done, and painting 10 vases!). This baby better stay put so I can get everything done! Thankfully my track record shows that I still  have about 5 weeks left, so we're good.

36 WEEKS:

MORNING SICKNESS: Just about none left. I get waves here and there, especially after eating dessert (so it's my fault), but it's subtle.

CRAVINGS: None. Nothing really tastes good anyway. I don't know why I eat so much.

BABY'S MOVEMENT: Consistent and very uncomfortable.

HEARTBURN: Here and there. When I do get it, it is pretty severe, but it is gone by the next morning, so I can handle that.

PAINS AND ACHES: This is the worst part. Lots of Braxton Hicks, lots of lower back pain and plenty pelvis pain. The Braxton Hicks aren't always painful, but they take my breath away and I have a hard time dealing with them when they're rhythmic for longer than a couple of hours.

EXERCISE: I've been doing a lot better with walking. I get about 2.5 miles in at least three times a week. It's not as much as I like, but it's something. I find that it helps calm my nerves and also helps with the lower back pain.

WEIGHT GAIN: I'm right on track with the last two pregnancies as far as weight gain. Swelling is the same as my last pregnancy which has been pretty normal. I do not have "cankles"and my shoes still fit - I'm just puffy all over and I finally took my wedding rings off a couple of weeks ago.

FATIGUE/SLEEP: I've had a cold since the end of April that over Memorial Day weekend turned into a nasty sinus infection. I had migraine type headaches for four days that made one side of my face down my neck and the back of my head feel like it was being hammered with nails. I started amoxicillin right away and the headache turned into a regular sinus headache and now I'm just congested even though I'm done with the antibiotics. The antibiotics have made my stomach a lot more sensitive than normal, too. Trying to pump myself with probiotics now, but I'm still sleeping restlessly from the congestion (not to mention the discomfort of my size).

MOOD: My emotions are definitely better! I haven't been depressed, and my tears are only sentimental or happy tears. Nevertheless, I'm very irritable with the heat (we still haven't put in our window units) and irritable with the stress of all I need to get done.
Thanks for following along! I look forward to blogging about regular life here soon. I always have plenty I want to say, as my husband would fondly attest to.

Stripes and Sneakers

I wore this on Saturday to do a little garage saling and watch the game at my in-law's.

Now that I have three weeks left till my due date, I'm starting to not just count days, but hours! I am definitely getting pretty antsy. I was pretty calm at this point with the last one, but this time around I'm just anxious to be done. I need to fill up my days with a lot to do so I keep distracted.

Dark Navy Wrap Dress

I've been saving this dress to wear for a cooler Sunday. So far, we are only having cool mornings. Now that I am getting closer to my due date, I realized I better stop saving things to wear "later," since hopefully there won't be much of a "later" now.

Fall-ish Weather

It was actually somewhat cool yesterday when I wore this, not even reaching to 70 degrees. That means I can wear boots, right?

Comfort Clothes

My son described my top as having "zebra stripes" this morning (confusing the navy for black and seeing the stripes variegated like a zebra, since my curves don't allow the stripes to lay flat). I got a kick out of that.

My next OB appointment is today. I will be up to an appointment a week from here on out.

By the way, I may be gaining a lot of weight for this pregnancy, but have you noticed how tiny my ankles are? I am definitely puffy, and if you touch my leg, your fingerprint will last a little while, but I am shocked that I don't actually look swollen at all when I'm this far along. With my previous pregnancies I already had cankles by now, and my face was super puffy!

An Outfit and Some Ramblings

I was sick with a bad cold all week last week and it culminated into what I thought might be a flu by the weekend. I stayed home most of the weekend pouting and feeling miserable. My only solace was to try to accomplish little projects around the house in between moping on the couch. By Sunday evening I had given up on expecting my husband to help me put up a new shelf in the school room until I heard a loud crash. Apparently, while I was making dinner, my husband was in the school room up on a ladder, lifting the large wooden bookshelf over our built-in bookcases. While maneuvering on the ladder, his ankle twisted and he found himself dropping the shelf on his head (corner first), and falling off the ladder.

When I found him he looked like he could have a possible concussion, and at the very least had sprained his ankle.

Great start to a new week, right?

The doctor confirmed he had a concussion and at least a sprained ankle, which is currently too swollen to determine whether there are any fractures yet. We'll find that out tomorrow.

I spent Sunday night even more upset about my circumstances and nervous for my husband who was at the ER. Instead of being that concerned for him, though, I was more concerned about how I was going to take care of my two children, myself with this virus, and a crippled husband.

Even though my heart wasn't right, God was there and gave me the verse I needed to get through: "He who finds his life will lose it, but he who loses his life for my sake will find it." -Matthew 10:39

Monday was a great day. Not only did God give me the grace I needed to get through the day and all it's unexpected incidences, but He also gave me a joy. How could I pout over this opportunity to give up my needs for the needs of others when that is what life should be all about?

It is my privilege and honor to be in this position of serving my family in this way.

Bonus, I got to have my husband here with me both yesterday and today, and will get him for most of tomorrow morning, too! I love it when he's at home on a weekday!

I'm feeling much better today - just some congestion and a sinus headache, so I'm actually caring about what I wear today.
