Wearing Pink to MOPS

Went to MOPS last night. It was their first get together of the year. I tried it a couple of years ago and it wasn't what I was looking for, but this year I decided to give it another chance since my husband is busy on Monday nights, the same night that I would have MOPS.

Wanting to make a good impression and not appear like I was trying too hard, I decided to wear something very conservative and "young mom-ish".

This top is a silk/cotton blend and I think the print is adorable. I found it new with tags (Banana Republic) at Goodwill for only $3. I love it when I find brand new items at Goodwill!
Even though I dressed conservatively to blend in, I still didn't quite fit in. We did a little mixer where we had to find someone else in the room that matched the 8 answers we gave on the list of questions they gave us with someone else's answers. I always think I'm such a regular everyday person until I go to a mixer like that and then I feel like I'm the oddest person on earth. Does anyone else have that trouble?

Crushing on Summer Bell Bottoms

At the end of winter I couldn't wait to start adding to my collection of colored jeans. Everything cropped and bright was what I was dreaming of for spring and summer. But now that summer is almost here, I'm starting to daydream about another look for denim: bell bottoms. They just have such a great Bohemian summer vibe to them.

Here are a few I found that I like:

 An outfit by Maegan.
Outfit inspiration from Mint A La Mode.
A perfect wash for summer by Madewell.

A great flare by Buffalo Jeans.

Outfit Post: Chambray Shirt

I've been hoping to snag another chambray shirt at Goodwill and this one was exactly what I was looking for. It's by Gap, in my perfect size, and cost only $3. Love it!

I wore the skirt outfit for a baby shower and then switched into the jeans for a casual barbecue with friends later. It was 40 degrees and raining, in case you were wondering why I'm wearing boots to the baby shower!

Outfit Post: Vintage

As you may have noticed by now, I've decided to post randomly whenever I feel like it. So yes, it's been a while since I've felt like it! But yesterday's two outfits called for some photos because I'm totally in love with my new vintage finds!

The dress is an antique. It is hand sewn from the 1950's. It came with elbow sleeves and a corset belt. I had to insert a new zipper in the back, and of course, I had to hem it up about 3 inches! My mother-in-law found it at an antique store for me. I adore it!

The blouse is another vintage find that I found at a vintage shop in downtown Grand Rapids on sale for only $5! It's such a romantic blouse. I paired it with my new 7 For All Mankind jeans that I got for free from a thrift store. Originally I had it with a skirt and tights, but my husband couldn't get over how old fashioned I looked, so I thought the jeans made it more modern.

Hope you all enjoyed the holidays and are excited about the New Year!

Sunday

I got to wear my fabulous trench dress that was gifted to me, from Nic, at Christmas...for the first time today! We finally had a sunny and semi-warm day today! I'm looking forward to many more warm and sunny days and styling and re-styling this fabulous summer staple.
Here is my after church wear. We plan to head out to the Farmers Market and then the local park for some batting practice (softball season is on it's way!) Here my daughter and I serious...
...and silly

Park and Errand running day

At 7am in the morning we had sunshine here in WA, so I got my little family ready for park day. It was still cool (50's) so I kept the jeans and long sleeves on, but did layers in hopes it would warm up and I could just wear my tank top.

then, wanting to have wavy hair for later in the day (company coming tonight) I decided to wrap my wet hair up in two pig tail buns. One of the gals at park day told me I reminded her of Princess Leia, hee, hee.
7hrs later I took out my buns with high hopes for long, luscious waves. But...no such luck. LOL
Oh well, there is a bit of texture so its' something.

Yellow camping shirt ~ Old Navy $12
Tank ~ Old Navy $8
Jeans ~ Gap $13
Earrings ~ Wal-mart $2
Bracelete ~ H&M $5
Necklace...I forget where I got it.

Our lovely, sunny day quickly turned from sunshine to rain, picture me running at full speed with a 3yr old and 3mon old in a "sit n' stand" stroller running from the park to the parking lot. My 3yr old laughing hysterically the whole way. Good times, good times.

Outfit Post: Stripes

Gorgeous day out today. The weather is supposed to get back up to 80 by the weekend, so I brought all my pots of herbs out on the porch to soak up some of this sun.

Since it is such a nice day, after work, my son and I are going to head over to the outdoor mall to pick up some Mother's Day and graduation gifts.

Hope you all are enjoying some of this beautiful spring weather!

Cantata Practice and Family Christmas Party

So this is why I didn't take pics in front of the Christmas tree before...taking a photo right into a window isn't going to make the best pic. But since my outfit is for a Christmas party, I thought the tree would make me look more festive.
My outfit had to be casual enough for cantata/choir practice, but dressy enough for the family party...not to mention weatherproof (we've got quite a bit of snow today). I planned my entire outfit around these shoes. They are the perfect blend of practical, warm, and stylish (or at least for me), plus they give me an extra four inches, which I definitely need! My next choice would have been my suede knee high boots, but I always wear them and wanted to change it up.
My husband bought me these earrings in Washington, DC, for our first Christmas. I wish I could have taken a picture that showed how much they sparkle. I LOVE them!
And what could be more festive than red lips?

Shopping Day

Today was a full day of shopping. First, I decided to explore our local shopping mall, and then I spent the entire afternoon with our realtor house shopping. Found a few great deals at the mall, and I have my fingers crossed on the great deals I found on houses. If only buying a house were as easy as picking out a new dress.
