Nesting for Baby #4

As soon as I found out I was having a girl my first thought was how cute it would be if my three girls all wore matching dresses - yes, I know - very shallow. I went shopping shortly after my ultrasound to find said matching dresses, only to find that if I wanted the same dress in size 0-3 month through 4t, I would have to order them online special.

I'm not a fan of sewing (I have no patience for it), but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Out came my Mom's old pleater so I could make little smocked bishop dresses for all three of my girls and their little cousin who lives near us. I used this pattern.

(Here is a close-up of my very uneven haphazard stitches (I should have used a pattern for the smocking instead of eyeballing it!).

One dress done...three to go!

In addition to sewing dresses, I've also been trying to get the girls' rooms ready. I moved Capri into Cassi's room and had to do some rearranging. Cassi has a new gallery wall over her bed and some baskets for her bedtime books. As soon as I get Capri's pallet bookshelves done for over her bed, I'll post a picture of that...because they're going to look so so good!

And today I had some time to do some finger painting in Cecily's room. She needs to have a few additional touches in her room that are just for her. She'll be wearing hand-me-downs for most of her life, so the least I could do was paint her a few hearts.

Seven more weeks till my due date, so it's time to start crossing stuff off my "before baby" list!

Turquoise Convertible Dress

I had planned to wear this dress for church yesterday, but with how big I am right now, the dress was just too tight. I don't mind showing off my belly, but showing off my backside and every other curve I have was a bit much. It's a shame the dress couldn't last till the end of my pregnancy, I so loved it a few months ago!

I switched to this just before heading out to church. Quite a bit more appropriate for Sunday.

The last time I wore this dress was at the end of my first trimester. I thought I was so big then. Now looking at the picture I can't even see the bump! My perception of myself has changed quite a bit in the past few months.

Repeats

I have what I like to call an irritable uterus. I go through days where every little movement sends off Braxton hicks contractions that are so uncomfortable they take my breath away. Dare I say that some of them are almost painful? Such a bother to have this so early, but I was like that with my other two, so I should have known I wouldn't get away with it this time. Feeling all these aches and pains, plus morning sickness, heartburn, *and* contractions, has me pretty irritable and feeling immobile most of the time. Don't I sound positive?

I'm trying to stay distracted now for the last weeks of this pregnancy and have lists and lists of projects I'd like to accomplish before the baby comes. Coming up with new outfits is my lowest priority, so I don't plan on posting much. If I do post, it will be repeat outfits that will show how much I've grown (like today's post).

Here is the outfit a couple of months ago.

Nesting

At this same stage of pregnancy for baby #2, I wasn't too inspired with trying new outfits. Instead, I was in full blown nesting mode. I painted my daughter's room, sewed new cushions for her rocking chair, sewed her a dress, sewed new bumper pads for her cradle, sanded and refinished a wooden rocking chair and a child's rocking horse, and re-upholstered a rocking chair.

It seems I'm going through the same thing with pregnancy #3 because I haven't worn anything attractive all week. However, I have prettied up the house a bit.

My son and I painted this during art class.

My husband and I made this upholstered headboard out of old doors previously covering some bookshelves for our king size bed (after I spent 2 hours reorganizing all my bookshelves and taking said doors off).

I painted this little love note for my hubby (translation - "You are my soulmate") using his favorite colors.

I also used the excess fabric from the headboard to reupholster the piano bench, a stool, and a dining chair. I bought a few coordinating remnants that I'll make some throw pillows with, too (to do either tonight or tomorrow).

And, I painted these two lovelies for my mantle (yellow walls to one day be covered in grey, for the record).
