My New Shoes

My sister-in-law-to-be gave me these cute sandals on Easter. She bought them at a thrift store to wear for her rehearsal dinner, and decided to test them out on Easter Sunday. They were too uncomfortable for her, so she passed them on to me. When it comes to shoes, the last thing I care about is comfort. She is now my new favorite sister-in-law-to-be. I love these shoes!

An Outfit and My New Favorite Lipstick

My husband shot these photos while I was at my parent's house. Love the little wooded forest that they live by. The weather was spectacular for our little Easter weekend visit, so we spent as much time out on the trails as we could.

Jeans - H&M - $2.50
Booties - Guess via DSW - $19

We have a family wedding this summer, so Mom and I went shopping for some wedding make-up for Mom. While browsing around at Sephora during Mom's makeover with the saleslady, I tried on the Color Reveal Unique Pink Lip Balm. The color is supposed to adjust to each person's individual skin tone so it should look good on everyone. I really struggle with finding the right lipstick color, so I knew I had to try it. I couldn't believe that I finally found something that works. This is the exact shade of pink that I was looking for! My Mom got it too and found that it was perfect for her as well. The only drawback is that it feels like an 8-hour lipstick in that it dries your lips out really fast. I just remedied that by applying a clear gloss over it after a few hours. There is a Unique Pink lip gloss that goes with it that I think I'll probably end up buying.

Art Prize

This past weekend we went up to Grand Rapids, Michigan to see my family. I wanted to see how my Papa was doing (he recently had a massive stroke), and also see Art Prize while I was there.

Art Prize was amazing. I discovered lots of adorable little shops along the way, this shop below being one of them. Called Vue Design, they custom design wedding gowns. Their style was impeccable and their shop was heaven.
My sister came with me looking as cute and stylish as ever.
I miss Grand Rapids and wish I still lived there.

Trenchcoat

Losing your luggage is a great excuse to buy some things that needed replacing in your wardrobe. In my luggage I had packed a trench for the rain or cool evening weather. Thinking my bag was lost for good, I had to get a coat for the remainder of the trip since it got quite cool in the evenings. I found this one at Zara and love it!

Outfit Post: Evening Wedding

I wish I took better photos that showed my shoes - they were the best part of my outfit! To see the shoes, you can check out this post.

This dress has a little bit of a back story. About 4 years ago, when I was still living near Washington, DC, the Lord & Taylor was going out of business and all their clothes were on super clearance. By the time I got there, there wasn't much left, but this dress. Originally it was $350, and I got it on clearance and with a coupon for only $20! I had to get it altered slightly, but the alterations cost $15. I've worn it several times, and always felt special in it.

Outfit Post: Fall Clothes in the Spring

I know it's supposed to be spring, but all week it's been cold and rainy and barefeet and sandals just won't do.
My son is missing last week when it was warm and sunny and is begging me to let him play out in the mud. He pinned on his Sheriff's pin (can you see it in the picture?), and even picked me some pansies.
I'm trying to convince him to go shopping instead. Whatever happened to my sweet little baby boy who was content to sit in his stroller while I shopped all day? He's such a boy now...collecting ants and showing me the frogs he's caught.

Pictures from Yesterday

We spent some time down by the port of Olympia yesterday, eating lunch at the farmers market and walking on the pier. Here are two pics from that.

Here is Nic's work outfit for yesterday. She borrowed the dress from my closet, I think it looks fabulous on her!
And here is my hair, still kind of poof-y from the night before's hair do.

Going shopping

I'm hoping to leave in just a bit to do some shopping with my little girl. Either that or running some errands. It's still chilly out but I think the sun may shine. We'll see.
I forgot to include my yellow bag, but here is me in my trench. Perhaps the purple scarf and purple trench clash a bit, but I don't really mind today:)

Playing around with my new fedora

While strolling through the mall the other day I found this hat at Charlotte Russe for $4.99...I'm a sucker for a cute hat and a good deal, so I bought it.
After all, fedora hats look so good with trench coats in the spring!
I already have a gray fedora, so I'm not sure that I needed a black one, but I can't help it.
Here's a close-up of the earrings and vintage scarf.
And no, I did not actually wear these red leather gloves today. A bit too loud for me! I do, however, plan on wearing them with my 3/4 sleeve black sateen trench when the occasion calls for it. Every now and then I like to really stand out in a crowd, even if it is only because I'm wearing elbow length red gloves!

While I was on vacation...

These pictures are completely out of order...but they give you an idea of a few of my new things that I got while I was visiting family in Michigan and Ohio...

This is me in downtown Grand Rapids showing off my Dolce & Gabana knockoff sunglasses, my new trenchcoat, and my rose pin.

This picture below is me after my day at the spa (gift from my husband for my birthday!). I had a mani/pedi, a facial, and my make-up done. It was fabulous!!!
This is my new tan blazer that I found while thrifting in Ohio. I got it for only $5!
The London Fogg trenchcoat was my birthday gift from my husband...I ADORE it! It has a removable flannel lining so I can wear it for cold weather, or in the summer for the rain!
I paired it with my Mom's blue and tan scarf and my patent leather red clutch from Express.
Here's another view of my new blazer and my rose pin. The rose pin is from Express and was a birthday gift from my parents. As you can see, I wore my rose pin a lot!
Here is a close-up shot of the rose.
The necklace above was a gift and is from Premier Jewelry - I love how colorful it is! I can wear it with everything!

Starting tomorrow I'll be back to my regular posting.

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!
